Toledo Police Officer Killed In The Line Of Duty

Officer Anthony Dia 26, was shot and killed while responding to a “check the safety call” at 12:11 a.m. on July 4th, regarding an intoxicated man in the parking lot of the Home Depot hardware store located at 1035 W Alexis Rd, Toledo, Ohio. Officer Dia was shot in the chest with a single round by 57-year old Edward Henry, Dia succumbed to his injuries a short time later at the Toledo Hospital. Henry fled into the nearby woods while being pursued by police K9 and aerial assets, police heard a gunshot around 3 a.m. and found Henry’s body a short time later. 

Officer Anthony Dia is the 31st Toledo Police Officer to be killed in the line of duty. The last Toledo Police Officer to be killed in the line of duty was Detective Keith Dressel who was shot and killed in 2007.
